Itinerary
11:00 AM:
• Guests arrive at a designated meeting point in Gjirokastra, where they park their cars and transfer to our vehicles for the program.
11:30 PM:
• Begin an exciting buggy ride through off-road terrain leading to the serene Doftia Lake, a sanctuary for migratory and wintering birds (season-dependent).
• Enjoy a picnic lunch provided by a local fisherman’s family, featuring fresh, traditional dishes.
• Return to the meeting point in Asim Zeneli village, where the buggy ride ends.
2:30 PM
• Continue your journey in 4x4 vehicles to the historic St. Nicholas Monastery (1634) in Spilea.
3:30 PM
• Explore this rare Byzantine site, known for its intricate murals, architecture, and the hermit monks who sought spiritual purification in nearby caves.
• Take a 20-minute guided hike (round trip) from the parking area to the monastery.
6:30 PM
• Arrive at the village of Labova of the Cross and check in to a charming local guesthouse.
• Enjoy a traditional dinner paired with locally crafted wines.
• For Albanian-speaking guests, a renowned actor will perform a poetry recital of selected Albanian literary works.
8:00 AM
• Begin the day with a homemade breakfast.
• Visit the Church of Labova of the Cross, a 10th-century Byzantine monument, featuring complex architecture and murals.
• Guests may leave a voluntary donation to support the preservation of this cultural treasure.
9:30 AM
• Embark on a 2-hour guided hike through the scenic Drino Valley, offering:
• Breathtaking views.
• Insights into local flora, fauna, and pastoral life.
