PESHKËPI CHURCH IN DROPULL
The Church St Mary in Peshkëpi village, Upper Dropull, is a cultural monument with high importance.
It is situated in a hill in the village of Peshkepi, looking down the Drinos Valley, next to Glina Village, in Gjirokastra municipality.
The church is restored lately. It is considered one of the rarest byzantine buildings in Albania, with the same architecture as the famous church in the same region Labova of the Cross. The church date back in 619, while the actual shape belongs to XI century. The church was ruined for decades and it was saved two years ago after a full restoration.
Now it is a touristic attraction for many visitors going to Dropull and Gjirokastra, and for people living in the area is the holy place to pray.
